I am an Egyptian fresh graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Science and Technology at Zewail City.

Q2: What motivated you to join GCI?

My focus on Japan’s advanced technological landscape and academic excellence began back in 2022. When I learned about GCI and the Matsuo-Iwasawa Lab at the University of Tokyo, I recognized a unique opportunity to learn directly from pioneers driving the AI frontier. What distinguished GCI was its dual focus: coupling high-level machine learning research with scalable business strategy, venture building, and industrial deployment.

ببدأ شغفي بالبيئة الأكاديمية والتكنولوجية الرائدة في اليابان منذ عام 2022. وحين علمت ببرنامج GCI وبأبحاث Matsuo-Iwasawa Lab في جامعة طوكيو، رأيت فيها فرصة فريدة للتعلم المباشر من رواد يرسمون ملامح مستقبل الـ AI عالمياً. أكثر ما شدني للبرنامج هو توازنه الذكي؛ فهو لا يكتفي بالتعمق في أبحاث الـ Machine Learning، بل يربطها مباشرةً باستراتيجيات بناء الأعمال وتأسيس الشركات والـ Industrial Deployment.
Q3: What skills, knowledge, or experiences did you gain through GCI?

Beyond deepening my foundation in modern architectures and foundation models, GCI fundamentally expanded my perspective on AI engineering. I developed a structured framework for navigating the entire technology lifecycle: evaluating commercial viability, understanding market dynamics, and engineering AI systems designed for systemic industrial impact rather than isolated benchmark performance.

إلى جانب تعميق فهمي لبنى النماذج الحديثة والـ Foundation Models، أحدث البرنامج نقلة نوعية في نظرتي لمفهوم هندسة الـ AI ككل. لم أعد أرى الأنظمة الذكية كمجرد خوارزميات تتنافس على أرقام ومقاييس نظرية، بل اكتسبت رؤية واضحة لكامل دورة حياة التقنية؛ من دراسة الجدوى الاقتصادية واحتياجات السوق الفعلية، وصولاً إلى بناء وتطوير حلول برمجية قادرة على إحداث أثر حقيقي ومستدام في الصناعة.
Q4: How has GCI helped you in your academic or professional journey?

GCI provided vital clarity and direction as I transition from undergraduate studies into professional research and industry. Being selected among the top 17 outstanding participants globally from over 25,000 applicants was a meaningful validation of long-term persistence and discipline. It connected me with a world-class peer network and solidified my vision of bridging cutting-edge AI methodologies with high-impact, real-world ventures.

منحني GCI بوصلة واضحة ورؤية محددة في مرحلة انتقالي من مقاعد الدراسة الجامعية إلى ساحة البحث العلمي والعمل المهني. كان اختياري ضمن أفضل 17 طالباً متميزاً على مستوى العالم من بين أكثر من 25 ألف متقدم دفعة معنوية كبيرة، ورسالة أكدت لي قيمة العمل الجاد والمثابرة. كما فتح لي البرنامج باباً للتواصل مع نخبة من الزملاء المتميزين دولياً، وعزز قناعتي بأهمية توظيف أحدث أبحاث الـ AI في تأسيس حلول واقعية ومشاريع ريادية مؤثرة.
Q5: What was the most memorable part of your GCI experience?

The defining highlight was engaging directly in advanced technical dialogues on bleeding-edge paradigms like World Models and Vision-Language-Action frameworks. Exchanging insights with researchers at the Matsuo-Iwasawa Lab, interacting with driven peers, and connecting with the supportive team at the JICA office made the journey intellectually demanding and deeply inspiring.

المحطة الأبرز بالنسبة لي كانت النقاشات التقنية المعمقة حول أحدث آفاق البحث، وتحديداً أطر الـ World Models والـ Vision-Language-Action. لقد كان خوض هذه الحوارات مع باحثي Matsuo-Iwasawa Lab، ومشاركة الرؤى مع زملاء شغوفين، إلى جانب الدعم والترحيب الكبير الذي لمسناه من فريق JICA، تجربة ملهمة على الصعيدين العلمي والإنساني تركت في نفسي أثراً لا يُنسى.
