  • Yutaka Matsuo appointed as a member of the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI

    Professor Yutaka Matsuo of the Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, has been appointed by the United Nations General Assembly as a member of the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI. The term of office is three years.

    About this Panel

    The Independent International Scientific Panel on AI is the first independent international scientific panel on AI, established pursuant to a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.

    This panel was established to provide a science-based assessment of the opportunities, risks, and impacts of AI technologies. Through its annual report and other publications, the Panel is expected to produce results that will serve as the basis for a scientific assessment of AI and a dialogue among the international community. The panel will consist of 40 members selected from more than 2,600 applications.
