Web Application Technology (Power to Change the World)
In the first part of the lecture, “Web Application Technology (The Power to Change the World),” students will learn how to use web technology to communicate and create value on their own over the course of three sessions.
In the first lecture, students will learn how communication works using UNIX commands, and then acquire basic techniques for building websites such as HTML and CSS. In the second lecture, we will cover UGC culture such as WordPress and wikis, where users themselves become media and create content. In the exercises, students will create a simple chat application using the web application development framework Flask (Python). In the third lecture, you will learn about user experience design for the web. In the exercises, students will try prototyping more interactive user interfaces using jQuery (JavaScript).
